Government consultation on visiting: a backward step?

28 June 2023

Today we wrote to the Care Minister and the Health Minister outlining our concerns with the Government consultation on visiting.

The Government are consulting on whether visiting should become a ‘fundamental standard’ - the standards below which care should never fall, which the regulator (the Care Quality Commission) uses to monitor services. Whilst we support this - it would send an important message that welcoming family and friends is a vital part of delivering good care - we have concerns about the consultation.

Read our letter to the Ministers, outlining some of our concerns.

It's vital that you have your say in the consultation to ensure they know how strongly people feel.

Visit the Government website to access the on-line consultation and please let us know if you complete it.
