Help us share stories of care

11/08/2025

As members of the Care and Support Alliance, we’re participating in their project to develop a series of “pen portraits”, to help the ongoing independent commission into adult social care reform understand the experiences of people receiving care.

These portraits are a way for us to show the personal stories of people receiving care – not only the challenges and barriers that people face, but also the positive difference that good care can make when it is available, personalised, appropriate and consistent.

We believe that everyone deserves good care and support, and that reform must be informed by the voices of those with lived and frontline experience.

If you participate in the project, we’ll ask you a few questions about your experience of care, along these themes:

  • About you

  • Why care matters to you

  • What’s working well

  • Challenges and barriers

  • The impact on your life

  • What could be better

Then we’ll write up our conversation into a “pen portrait” – a short article about you and your experience. If you’re happy to share one, we’ll also include a photo with your pen portrait to share with the Commission team. With your permission, we’ll also share this on our website.

If you would like to participate in the form of a short phone call with Lauren, our Policy and Campaigns Lead, please email us at team@carerightsuk.org. Let us know a bit about you and if you have used our adviceline, and then we’ll get back to you! Thank you in advance.
